David Gibbons was born in London in 1978. He studied Visual Arts in Drawing at Camberwell College graduating in 2003 with Honours. Since
then David has lived in London and New Zealand working both as a fine artist and in film and television. His has exhibited in London,
Salisbury, Cannes and Auckland.

David’s work exhibits the strength of true observation. He paints primarily in oil from sketches (pen, pencil and watercolour) and memory and is compelled to develop an expressive language and emotive response to his subject, rather than to create a direct representation of the material world. When discussing his work, David emphasises the moment of the present. His drawings and paintings convey an immediacy, an urgency both of technique and intent.
