Leesa gained many of her skills through being taught to paint at a young age by her artist Grandmother. When living in London, she was inspired by surrealist and impressionist artists works such as Dali, Blake and Chagall. She attended lessons at Rudolf Steiner House and learnt the techniques of Wet-on-Wet watercolour and Veil Painting. Leesa likes to paint nature from a surrealist perspective. Upon moving to Muriwai she was very inpired to paint Gannets. The works she is entering draw upon her spiritual connection to the West Coast of the North Island including Muriwai and Taranaki. For her the West Coast has deepened her connection to the land and for creating a sustainable future. Muriwai is where she chose to settle after being in London for it is a place of beauty and much wairua.
