I am a local painter, and live at the beautiful Muriwai Beach. Around four years ago, after spending many years photographing the West Coast, I suddenly discovered I could paint.
I am self taught, with influences and inspiration for my paintings coming from the wild and elemental environs of the West Coast. I have been very fortunate to have spent much of my childhood and adult life living in Titirangi, and on the Coast, and have a family history linked to Huia and Whatipu, going back three generations.

My favorite medium is oil on canvas, with a focus on the sea and coast landscapes in muted and quite often moody tones and hues. I generally paint from photos taken of the coast.
I also have an avid interest in the history of the West Coast, and find inspiration in the rich tapestry of it’s past.

it is my aim to try to encapsulate the feel and energy of the West Coast, whether it be a ferocious winter storm or gentle summer morning . Enjoy!
