Brent Wong
b. 1945, early life spent in Wellington. Studies an incomplete year at the Wellington
Polytechnic School of Design in 1963 – partly self-taught.
Experimented in various media, imitating some European and American styles.
This was followed in 1968 by a very intense and productive period resulting in
successful solo exhibitions.
1976 saw a departure in working practice through the use of colour studies, a more practical
and successful way of working, which ultimately resulted in the; “light and energy” works.
In 2008 painting practice was abandoned to explore music composition, an area that had
always interested him.
