Leaving behind a career as a classical musician, Judy started her photographic journey when she moved to Muriwai in 2012. Here, inspired by the magic of Muriwai, with its mercurial ocean, wild landscapes and beautiful birds, Judy quickly developed a love for creating images with her camera that look more like paintings than photographs. She spends many hours of solitude in nature with her camera, often using the technique of Intentional Camera Movement for her images including her landscapes. Judy finds creative photography helps her to see the world differently, it helps clear her head and it keeps her sane and happy in the everchanging mix of life. She loves connecting with others through her photography – not only speaking to others with her images, but also holding weekend workshops at Muriwai where she shares her techniques and ideas and loves helping others reach their own creative potential. Judy continues to achieve recognition for her images in competitions nationally and internationally and in 2022 won the Auckland Festival of Photography award for her in camera multiple exposure image “Fusion”
