A short biopic:

Madelaine Abey-Koch

Following a career abroad, Muriwai became our base. Over the last eight years I have come to love the West coast. In many ways Muriwai evokes the New Zealand of my youth.

I am new to making ceramics but it fits well with my former archaeological and conservation work. It is wonderful to have made the switch from preserving the old to creating the new.

My works are all hand built, this year I have begun to experiment with smoke firing and burnishing.
