Soo-Ling Lyle Tassell was born in the UK, and moving to New Zealand almost 6 years ago has been very inspirational. She has a love for nature and birds; and living in Muriwai has been been very influential in her art work.
The 2015 Muriwai exhibition showed 2 large drawings. Both of Motutara, just off the coast where the gannets nest every year and raise their young. This is portrayed as woman. Whose nurture and dependability is solid as rock.
Her piece at the 2017 Muriwai exhibition was a sculpture of a gannet, diving. This was made from 3D printed sand stone and 3D printed metal on a macrocarpa plinth.
Though she works full time as a Computer Games 3D Character Artist; she tries to create art in her spare time where possible.
Mediums for her art include drawing, painting, print making (lino and dry point) and 3D printing for sculptures.
